This was a great video lecture. I agree with the points made; copyright laws need to be amended to reflect current and future technologies and generations. Can anyone say G-R-E-E-D?

Alice Neel

There are lots of sites/comments that come up when I google Alice Neel:

-- http://antiquesandthearts.com/Antiques/TradeTalk/2010-03-30__13-30-00.html . . . Alice Neel called herself "a collector of souls," an accurate description of one of this country's most original and provocative Twentieth Century portraitists.

JDSAVAGE9 (7 months ago) WONDERFUL

almohvn33 (1 year ago) LOVE HER WORK! Have seen her work at National Gallery of Woman in the Arts. It really makes a difference to see the work live, instead of in an art book. Her nude of herself.. ROCKS! at like 80 years old! Thanks Alice!!!!

innertubevideo (1 year ago) Yes! A wonderful artist, a feminist, a great role model for artists and especially women artists. Linda Nochlin is right on about her.
A concise and moving program. A fine DVD for students to see and discuss.

germansos (1 year ago) Had as much beauty in her soul

"An 1883 article in the weekly medical journal the Sanitarian argued that schools "exhaust the children's brains and nervous systems with complex and multiple studies, and ruin their bodies by protracted imprisonment." Meanwhile, excessive study was considered a leading cause of madness by the medical community." -- My kids would agree totally. Each new generation has new fears, just like the article said.

Why not keep reinventing the "wheel?" Eventually a better "wheel" will come.

Digital Technical Primer Reading

This was very interesting and enlightening. I always hear the terms bits, bytes, etc., but was unclear to their meaning. I got a little lost when it came to the calculations from decimal to binary digits though.
